Mutual influence of cupric cations and several anions in anatase and rutile TiO2 photocatalysis

چکیده
Copper ions in aqueous solution are known to promote organic oxidation semiconductor photocatalysis, but the counter anions seem be important as well. In this work, performance of Cu(ClO4)2 presence several sodium forms (F−, Cl−, ClO4−, NO3−, and SO42−) has been examined. Phenol (pH 4) under UV light was used model reaction TiO2 anatase (AT) rutile (RT) photocatalysts. On addition 0.1–5 mM Cu2+, reactions on AT RT all increased. 1 anions, increased by F−and SO42−, decreased. 3 however, decreased except NO3−. Such anion effects were also observed for H2 production Cu2+ 10% methanol. A possible mechanism positive negative is discussed. This work indicates that formation a Cu(II)/Cu(I) complex with weakens effect copper photocatalysis.

Band alignment of rutile and anatase TiO2
The most widely used oxide for photocatalytic applications owing to its low cost and high activity is TiO2. The discovery of the photolysis of water on the surface of TiO2 in 19721 launched four decades of intensive research into the underlying chemical and physical processes involved2–5. Despite much collected evidence, a thoroughly convincing explanation of why mixed-phase samples of anatase ...
متن کاملPlasmonic photocatalysis properties of Au nanoparticles precipitated anatase/rutile mixed TiO2 nanotubes.
Anatase/rutile mixed titania nanotubes (TiO2 NTs) precipitated with gold nanoparticles (Au NPs), i.e. Au/TiO2, have been synthesized and investigated on visible photocatalysis properties. A deposition-precipitation (DP) method was adopted to reduce the gold precursor to Au NPs within the preformed TiO2 NTs by the emulsion electrospinning technique. The optimal visible photocatalytic activity wa...
متن کاملSupercritical Antisolvent Precipitation of TiO2 with Tailored Anatase/Rutile Composition for Applications in Redox Catalysis and Photocatalysis
TiO2 with tailored anatase/rutile composition has been prepared from the supercritical antisolvent (SAS) precipitation of a range of titanium alkoxides. The calcination of the SAS TiO2 was monitored by in situ powder X-ray diffraction to determine the optimal calcination conditions for the formation of a mixed anatse/rutile phase TiO2. The SAS precipitated material calcined at 450 °C produced a...
متن کاملInfluence of nitrogen doping on the defect formation and surface properties of TiO2 rutile and anatase.
Nitrogen doping-induced changes in the electronic properties, defect formation, and surface structure of TiO2 rutile(110) and anatase(101) single crystals were investigated. No band gap narrowing is observed, but N doping induces localized N 2p states within the band gap just above the valence band. N is present in a N(III) valence state, which facilitates the formation of oxygen vacancies and ...
متن کاملTiO2-Based Nanomaterials for Gas Sensing—Influence of Anatase and Rutile Contributions
The paper deals with application of three nanomaterial systems: undoped TiO2, chromium-doped TiO2:Cr and TiO2-SnO2 synthesized by flame spray synthesis (FSS) technique for hydrogen sensing. The emphasis is put on the role of anatase and rutile polymorphic forms of TiO2 in enhancing sensitivity towards reducing gases. Anatase-to-rutile transformation is achieved by annealing of undoped TiO2 in a...
